Next season's ticket arrangements
Next year it seems there will be no physical 'season ticket' and it will all be done by a phone app. You will also need separate ID.
All of which means it will be nigh-on impossible to transfer a ticket to a mate if you can't go.
All a bit of a faff.

Re: Next season's ticket arrangements
Makes no odds to me as I’ve given up on my season ticket finally (after giving it one more go last season, that turned out well) but I really don’t see how this ‘double vaccination mandatory for large events’ rule is going to work with season tickets.

Obviously all the news so far has been about night clubs but the ‘large crowds’ or similar wording is always buried in there and it seems likely that will apply to sports (and presumably concerts) too unless they get some kind of dispensation because it’s outdoors but even then you’d imagine that would necessitate leaving some seats empty, meaning not everyone who bought a ticket can use it either way.

I’ve got no issue on personal principle with requiring vaccination but it feels as if it is just waiting for a test case to open a large can of legal worms - if you’ve sold someone a product on the basis that it will allow them into every home game and suddenly they’re not allowed to use it, surely thats not right whether you think they should just get jabbed and get on with it or not. You have to be allowed to object to something whether it’s sensible to do so or not, and if a business is taking your money for a ticket you can’t use, well…same with cricket memberships or whatever.

Presumably there will be some kind of convoluted refund as credits situation but the same issue applies again if you can’t buy a usable ticket for another game. There’s only so much tat you could use it on from the club shop, even if you wanted to.

Is club membership a thing now?

Ernie - it's not. Sounds to me like progress is being blamed on COVID. Given the reaction of some on Facebook I can't blame them for wanting to blame something! It could all be vacccination-related, though.

Re: Next season's ticket arrangements
I'm guessing that you are right Fo.

So long as the ticketing machine doesn't flag up the same ticket twice you'll be okay.

Maybe it won't though and it will make it as easy as fuck to jib in?

It all depends on how good the IT department are. If they are up to the standards of their stewarding, ticketing and general management you should be able to draw a bunch of lines in crayon as a barcode walk right in.

Re: Next season's ticket arrangements
Don't know. With England the ticket/QR code only becomes active at the stadium (it's activated by Bluetooth).

We could only forward the inactive QR code once as well, as far as I know - I was the lead member so only forwarded tickets, I didn't receive them.

There's no way they'll check ID, but in theory they'll know who has the ticket as it'll be in that person's app.

Re: Next season's ticket arrangements
Presumably the barcode will be sent to one phone and can then be forwarded to another? It will only become an issue if you have to cross refer the ticket to other identification?
Or am I missing something?

Re: Next season's ticket arrangements
As I said, I'd be surprised if you will be able to print them long-term, but I don't know that.

You will be able to pass tickets on to mates though - you can do that electronically now - I reckon you'll be able to put an e-mail address into the app and it'll appear in their app. In theory they're meant to know who is in the stadium.

Don't think you've got much choice, me old china.

My sources tell me Bangkok's fucked (again), they're running out of vaccines everywhere, virtually everything in Issan is shut, pox-ridden migrants are still streaming across the borders and, apparently, due ti the rising number of cases, they've just closed all the bars in Phuket - their tourist island of great hope.

I'd probably have been better off choosing North Korea or Iran in which to retire.

Re: Next season's ticket arrangements
You could definitely print the Southampton tickets. I did just in case there was a problem with the digital ticket on my phone.

I also printed the tickets of the 2 blokes in my network.

It really wasn't a big deal.

Re: Next season's ticket arrangements
... when I actually went to renew the kid in the ticket office also told me that your ticket WOULD be sent to your phone a couple of days before the game as they wanted to make getting in as contactless as possible.

I'm sure some of you crafty fuckers will suss how to get round giving a ticket to a pal without giving them your phone in about a minute- 'my phone is fucked so I printed out the barcode at home' or something like that. If anything it may make it easier to move your ticket on.

Fuck going through security though. I think that I might out-and-out refuse to be part of a touch search.

A tough season coming up for all sorts of reasons. Someone posted on that thread I started that his son and all six of his pals tested positive after the England final at Wembley. I don't really want to go through this shit again in a hurry.

Re: Next season's ticket arrangements
I didn't renew last season and the club emailed me asking why I hadn't.

I wrote a long email explaining why I simply don't trust the club to put supporters health and safety above profit.

It's all very well to sit with an empty seat beside you but as I have seen at the cinema right in front of you will be a couple (or more) of complete strangers 3ft away as they cram in as many as possible.

I added that I trust SGB about as far as I can spit them and that I had been a ST holder for at least 25 years and they could now stick my ticket up their collective arses.

About a month ago they emailed me out of the blue to ask me if me and my brother wanted our old seats back. Glory hunting cunt that I am I said 'oh, okay then'!

Re: Next season's ticket arrangements
Given that my long-term retirement plans have been completely fucked by Covid and all I see is not a light at the end of the tunnel but a more luminous variant coming my way, I might well get myself a season ticket this year ,as I don't expect any significant changes any time soon.
